Practical answers to the questions families ask before enrolling

This page collects the practical things families ask before enrolling at Roseville Kindergarten. For policy detail (sun safety, behaviour guidance, sleep and rest, privacy) please see the centre policies.

What ages we cater for

Roseville Kindergarten is a preschool for children aged 3 to 6 years, with up to 40 places. Our centre is set up specifically for the kindergarten years from 3 to 6. For babies and toddlers, our sister centres at Normanhurst and West Ryde Long Day Care take children from 6 weeks.

Hours and term

Long day care runs 8am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Preschool hours are 9am to 3pm. We close for public holidays and a short break over Christmas. The combination of preschool routines with long day care hours is one of the practical reasons families choose Roseville.

Fees and Child Care Subsidy

We are Child Care Subsidy approved. Most NSW families are eligible for some level of CCS. The amount depends on combined family income and is paid directly to us by Services Australia, reducing your weekly fee. From January 2026, the new 3 Day Guarantee means most eligible families get at least 72 subsidised hours per fortnight regardless of activity. Use the Services Australia CCS estimator to check your eligibility, or call us on 02 9416 3002 and Anna will walk you through it.

What's included

The daily fee covers the educational program, sunscreen, a bucket hat, and afternoon tea for long day care children. Children bring their own morning tea and lunch from home in a labelled lunch box (we send healthy lunch suggestions on enrolment). Some incursions and special events are absorbed into the daily fee, but specialist or multi-week programs and excursions are charged separately and are always opt-in, with written notice in advance.

What to bring

A labelled backpack with a packed lunch in a small lunchbox, a labelled water bottle, a sun-safe broad-brim or legionnaire hat, a spare set of clothes, and any comfort item your child needs to settle. We provide sunscreen and bedlinen for rest time.

Settling in

Some children settle in days, others over weeks. We work with each family individually. If your child is upset at drop-off, our educators will message you on the OWNA app once they have settled, which usually happens within minutes of a quiet hand-over. Always say goodbye; slipping out unseen leads to mistrust and more distress.

Sickness and exclusion

Please keep your child home if they have a temperature, are vomiting, have diarrhoea, an unexplained rash, or are generally unwell. After a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea, children should be symptom-free for 24 hours (48 hours for vomiting and diarrhoea) before returning. We follow current NSW Health exclusion guidance.

Changing days or withdrawing

We ask for 4 weeks' written notice for any change to permanent days or for withdrawal. This lets us plan thoughtfully for your child and the group around them. Your $500 holding deposit is applied to your final invoice when you leave, or refunded if 4 weeks' notice has been given.
